Mushroom Masala

  • 4 cups button mushroom, diced

  • 3 tablespoons butter

  • 1 teaspoon cumin

  • 1.5 cups tomatoes, chopped

  • 3 teaspoons red chili powder

  • 2 teaspoons cumin-coriander powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder

  • 1.5 teaspoons garam masala

  • Salt to taste

  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar

  • 3 tablespoons coriander, finely chopped


  • In a pan, heat butter and saute cumin seeds till they turn aromatic.

  • Add tomatoes and saute till they turn soft and mushy.

  • Now add red chili powder, cumin-coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt.

  • Mix on low flame for a minute.

  • Add in mushrooms and sugar and mix gently.

  • Cover and simmer for few minutes till the mushroom gets cooked well.

  • Now add butter and coriander leaves.

  • Mix gently, making sure everything is combined well.

  • Serve Mushroom masala hot with chapati or paratha.
