💚 INGREDIENTS 💚
For Falafel:
Combine the following in the food processor, and crush it coarsely on the pulse mode:
1 cup chickpeas, soak overnight
1/4 cup sweet corn, par boiled
1/2 cup parsley, remove stem
1/4 cup coriander, remove stem
2 tablespoons tahini
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Salt to taste
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder
1 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
2 tablespoons gram flour
Water if needed
Oil for frying
For Red Sauce:
Combine the following in a blender and blend it well, then cook it in a pot for 5 minutes:
3 medium tomatoes
1/2 red capsicum
Salt to taste
3 tablespoons red chili powder
3-4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoon cornflour + 4 tablespoons water
For White Sauce:
Combine the following in a bowl and mix well:
1 cup sour cream
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup yogurt
1 tablespoon tahini
Salt to taste
Salad:
Lettuce, julienned
Tomatoes, julienned
Carrot, grated
Cucumber, grated
Any other toppings of your choice like jalapenos, olives, pickles, red cabbage, coriander, etc.
💛 INSTRUCTIONS 💛
Frying Falafel:
Transfer the crushed falafel mixture to a container, cover it and refrigerate for 1 hour.
Just before frying, add the baking soda to the falafel mixture and stir with a spoon.
Heat oil. When the oil is hot, drop a few medium-sized rounds of the falafel mixture in it like Bhajiya/fritters.
Fry them until the balls are nicely browned and crispy.
Remove them to a paper towel.
Assembling:
Take a pita bread(store-bought), and open it from the center.
Fill it with falafel, red sauce, white, sauce, and salad.
It's ready. Eat before it gets soggy. 😊
