Creamy Mushroom Mac & Cheese


  • 1 cup macaroni pasta, boiled and drained

  • 1.5 cups mushroom, chopped

  • 3 cups milk

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 2 tablespoons all purpose flour

  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

  • Salt to taste

  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano

  • Pinch of dried basil/ fresh basil


  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt 1 teaspoon butter.

  • Add chopped mushroom and a pinch of salt. Cover the lid and let it cook for 2-3 minutes.

  • Now remove sautéed mushrooms in a different bowl.

  • Now to the same pan add 1 tablespoon of butter.

  • Add flour and stir until the butter and flour are well combined.

  • Pour in milk, stirring constantly as it thickens.

  • Add salt, pepper, dried oregano and dried basil.

  • Stir continuously for few minutes so no lumps are formed.

  • Add sautéed mushrooms, cream cheese and heavy cream.

  • Now add boiled macaroni, mix well and cook for another 1-2 minutes.

  • Serve hot.


  • You can use any pasta of your choice.

  • Make sure your pasta is a bit under cooked.

  • Apply some oil to the pasta after you boil and drain them, to avoid sticking.

  • If you dont have cream cheese, you can simply omit it.

  • You can add more milk depending on desired consistency.

  • Add pasta just before serving.
