Basil Beetroot Pasta


  • 400 grams wheat penne pasta or any pasta of your choice, boiled and strained

  • 3 tomatoes, chopped

  • 2 tablespoons beetroot puree

  • 5-6 fresh basil leaves, chopped

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil

  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

  • 1/2 pepper powder

  • Salt to taste

  • 2 teaspoons sugar

  • 3-4 tablespoons cream

  • 1 teaspoon butter


  • Take a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook for about 10 minutes or according to package instructions.

  • Meanwhile, in a saucepan, add olive oil and heat it.

  • Add chopped tomatoes, beetroot puree, chopped basil, sugar, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, pepper and chili powder.

  • Bring to boil and let it cook for 10 minutes or until most of the liquid evaporates.

  • Remove from heat; stir in the cream and butter. Reduce heat and simmer 5 more minutes.

  • Drain the pasta and add it to the sauce. Toss gently to combine and serve immediately.
